I'm Taking a Poll...

Okay, I need your vote. Adam and I have been having a 'discussion' (arguing for the sake of arguing) over a calendar I saw a news report about. You can read all about the calendar titled: Men on a Mission

So, what do you think? Approve? Don't approve? Gonna' buy it for yourself for Christmas? I want to hear what you think.

Cast your vote and help us solve the argument.

Next on America's Got Talent....

"Men on a Mission"

The Curtain Opens and the Calendar is revealed...

Immediately a hand goes goes to a big button "ENNNRRG!!" and a Big Red "X" appears.

The other judge begins to vomit so someone has to press his button. "ENNNRRG!"

Finally, in stunned disbelief, the last judge turns away in hallowed sadness and she presses her button: "ENNNRG!"

Three X's and the "Men on Mission" leave the stage.

Frankly, this idea is just so "wrong" and sets the complete opposite example to our Faith.

Of course, the evil creators of this idea and the men who posed for it have their agency, but it is NOT in anyway way something that should exist.

In fact, I am appalled that you guys are even showing it on your blog here.

If you want my opinion, you should take it down from your blog as you are inadvertantly advertizing it and spreading its evil.

But it is a free country, do as you wish...

Jason, brother.

Hey... ya, I kinda have a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach... couldn't tell if it was anti stuff or what... What they say in their little bio is inspiring, the info about their missions, etc... but mixed with the images of them "modeling"... just another little ploy of the Advisary to taint something that could have potential for good. Its just so weird to have the wholesome image of the missionary, and then scroll over it and see their bodies... ughh!
i'm interested to hear more about what your debate is at home though...

First of all the site on my computer was so slooooow.Black background. red flag! I have so much to say about this Being a Mom of a missionary right now, Wow would I be proud of the way my son is exploiting that sacred time he spend serving the Lord. No!!! These are young boys that have made covenants. Next we will see a Young Women calendar of those that have there Medallions, half naked. , ok. Have you heard enough. I would consider this a form of Pron. Would I want that calendar on my daughters wall next to her pict of the temple or of Christ. Pres. Kimball lesson in RS last week was on the Law of Chastity, Ok enough! I disapprove!!!! lol :D

MIxed emotions, I took a family poll - husband and son said.....they as a returned missionary took a covenant and posing for this calendar without their "g's" on is not okay, my daughter 20 years of age says....it seems strange, if they were wake boarding or at the beach, then I could see it, but it seems like they are degrading their values....My self (mom), my thoughts are everyone has a right to make their own choices....if this is what they choose to do, then so be it....but, if you don't like it, then don't buy it....end of story...BTW...do you know a proceeds of the sale of these calendars goes to a charitable cause.....I don't see it as porn, I don't see it as being unloyal to their church, or callings....we have seen many members of the church in a state of more undress than this....we go to the lakes, beaches, and many more places where all the male is wearing is swim trunks.....so.....live and let live...."judge not, least ye be judged"

Today, Sept. 132, 2007 ---msn.com did a video interview regarding this calendar, go check it out and see what they have to say....I thought the interview was tasteful, stating the money goes towards the charities that each of the calendar men decided on in the area where they have served there mission. I am sure this calendar will stir up a lot of conversation...but honestly, to each his own....

My two cents is that if it was just the calendar, okay, but the fact that they're using the missionary tagline is what makes it inappropriate. Which is really too bad since it would be a great addition to our Bunko White Elephant Gift Exchange.
