Happy Birthday Dad!

Yep, this is my dad...60 years old (he'll tell you he's about 34-and he acts that age) and still going strong. This is how I always think of him; in his element leading us on some wild adventure. He is the original cowboy complete with hat, belt buckle, shirts that have snaps, wranglers and boots.

He got his birthday gift a little early this year. He is an outfitter by trade and has been for more years than I can count. He runs Jackson Hole Outfitters and is a terrific guide if I do say so myself. He's had men (and women) from all over the country come hunting with him. Some of them for over 20 years!!

Now the birthday part: Craig has hunted with my dad since 1985. It just so happens that this year dad helped Craig get this WORLD RECORD BUCK!! The biggest one taken so far this year and he doubts it will be beaten.

Of course my dad (remember, I said he just turned 60) had his work cut out for him. Craig got the deer on the top of a ridge above a ravine, the deer fell and started rolling down the mountain never to be seen again, so my dad did what a good outfitter should do; he ran 50 yards up the mountain (at 9,000 feet no less) and tackled the deer and held him in place until others could come to help. For his efforts he gashed up his arms and legs, ripped his clothing and won the admiration of every hunter in camp-yep, that's my dad.

So, that was his birthday present to himself-a great hunt and happy hunters. My dad is a nut! He loves this kind of life, he's so energetic and always on the go and we love him for it!

Happy Birthday Dad!
