Hurricane Russell
It was pretty scary! On the news it said there were 75mph winds and huge hail! It stripped the leaves off our trees and the wind plastered all the debris against our house.
When the rain started coming down hard I stood looking out my front windows and down came the tree!! Luckily it landed in the road and didn't hit any houses or cars, but it was such a mess to try and clean up!
We are so blessed to have great friends and neighbors. They all came running first to gawk and then to chop, haul, and heft the huge branches.
The size of the branches were shocking! We couldn't even pull them out of the street, we had to chop them up first.
Many neighbors and friends showed up with chain saws, muscle and a trailer. We got it off the street and mostly chopped up then here came the rain again!
Brother Johnston showed up after the second storm and finished off the large branches and the stump.
Luckily the school bus stops in front of our house and while waiting for their kids all the neighborhood grabbed rakes and filled the green barrels.
They finished it off in no time!
I think we filled 5 barrels full, plus a trailer, and then chopped the largest wood and stacked it for firewood.
I've said this so many times before, but I'll say it again...
We are so blessed to live in this neighborhood! We have such great friends and neighbors. they are always up for a Russell service project! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
