Periodic Spring
Thursday night we drove up the canyoun and hiked to the periodic spring. It's the worlds' largest fresh water gyser and a tradition for us to hike to the spring every year. This year Gina didn't want to bring her fussy little Brannen (4 mo. old) so, I went with the Woolf family.
We stopped at a rock slide and looked for fossils.
We found a few.
The sign that explains the theory of why the river cycles every 18 min. Unfortunately this spring it wasn't cycling due to the high run-off from the TONS of snow still left in the mountains. It was still a beautiful hike!
Heading up the trail with the river gushing! It was so high! I had never seen it so high before!
We found a patch of snow left from an avalanch and stopped to make snowballs.
We couldn't even get to the very top because of the high river, so we stopped to take a great
picture. The Woolf family hikers! It was a little scary coming down, but nice an cool and beautiful.
Dallin gave me his best GQ pose!
