Thankful Thoughts: Great Teachers

Yesterday when Dallin had to go back to school after a fun day off he said; "Mom, I do I have to? All we do is learn, learn, learn!"

This is the very first time this year he has complained about going to school! It's amazing! His teacher is the most wonderful, positive, happy, creative teacher I have ever seen. She is truly a joy to be around. The kids love her and she loves teaching. I get to go once a week to help and I love it when she has things for me to do in the classroom. I love to sit and listen to how she teaches, the fun things she says and how she is so silly and encouraging .

Dallin really needed her this year. He had a rough time last year and struggled with school. He never wanted to go, hated doing homework, and was in trouble all the time. My how things have changed. I am so grateful for this amazing teacher.

Teachers can change your life. My dad says that when he was in college he changed from being a music major because of one rotten teacher that ruined it for him. I remember several teachers in my life that made a difference for me. One P.E. teacher boosted my confidence by inviting me to be a part of the volleyball team as their manager. I was new in school and it helped me meet friends and feel more comfortable at school. Another teacher often complimented me on my writing abilities and called me at home to personally congratulate me on passing my A.P. exam. Those simple things meant so much to me as a young girl.

I am so grateful for Dallin's teacher this year. He still is catching up in some subjects (his spelling is atrocious and his penmanship is dismal) but he is so much happier in school and that makes life so much better!
